This pure Grass type Pokemon is and always has been an excellent addition to any team which makes it worthy of appearing on any list of this type. Venusaur is the final evolution form of Bulbasaur, a grass starter Pokemon from generation one which, become an iconic character of the franchise over two decades later. All in all, Exeggutor earns an entry on this list purely due to its confusing nature and quirky appearance. Things get even stranger when taking a look at the Alolan Exeggutor which has an elongated neck and is actually a Grass/Dragon type. If we take a look at it, we can see that Exeggutor seems like a strange combination of a palm tree and a bunch of eggs with faces on them, making him one of the weirdest-looking Pokemon in the Pokedex. Right off the bat, Exeggutor is a strange Pokemon, both in terms of appearance and abilities. This pokemon is an evolved form of Exeggcute and its evolution occurs when an Exeggcute is exposed to a leaf stone. Next up we have Exeggutor, a Grass/Psychic type Pokemon that was introduced in generation one. Namely, if Lurantis is hit by any kind of stat-lowering move, instead of being lowered, Lurantis’ stats actually increase which can be very useful in battles against NPC Pokemon. However, its best asset is its Contrary Hidden Ability which functions in a very interesting way. When it comes to stats, Lurantis comes with higher-than-average Defense, decent Attack, and a subpar Speed stat in order to counterbalance two of the former. Should it not be able to avoid a battle, Lurantis is definitely capable of putting up a fight. This Pokemon is known to pretend to be a bug in order to avoid predators, however, don’t let this deceive you. Lurantis, also known as the Bloom Sickle Pokemon is a Grass type that comes from the Alola region and the evolved form of Formantis. ![]() In terms of abilities, Vileplume’s strength lies within his hidden ability called Spore which can be used to inflict Sleep, Paralysis, or even Poison effects on those Pokemon who are unlucky enough to come in contact with it. Vileplume is based on a Corpse Flower which can be found in the Amazon and is known to produce a vile smell similar to a rotting animal carcass which is why its Poison type part makes a lot of sense. Introduced in Pokemon Red and Blue, Vileplume is an evolution of Gloom and is vastly remembered as the Pokemon with a hat made of flower petals. ![]() Vileplume is another Grass/Poison type Pokemon from the first generation on this list. Victreebel comes across as a solid attacker and its offensive capabilities go hand in hand with its Chlorophyll ability, making it suited to appear on this list. Next up, we have Victreebel, a Grass/Poison type who was one of the original 151 Pokemon from the first generation.īased on the pitcher plants, Vitreebel became known as the Flycatcher Pokemon capable of luring its prey into a trap by producing sweet smells, then slowly digesting it, making its smell even sweeter. Nevertheless, we feel like a Grass Pokemon list of any kind would not be complete without this little cutey that is brimming with personality and has been such an impactful character and faithful companion to Ash during the Johto League. This, combined with the fact that Chikorita and its evolutions such as Meganium don’t have particularly impressive stats seems to be the reason why Chikorita is rarely chosen to accompany trainers on their adventures. Grass type Pokemon generally don’t get picked very often as they provide fewer advantages when compared to the other starter alternatives such as Cyndaquil and Totodile. Keep in mind that Pokémon types are just rough guides with regards to weaknesses and resistances and that these Pokémon can still learn moves that are outside their type.Considering the fact that this is the starting point of our list, it only feels appropriate to start it off with one of the Grass type starter Pokemon, Chikorita.
